BLAZE BAYLEY's CLIVEAID Non-Appearance Explained
May 26, 2008Former IRON MAIDEN/WOLFSBANE frontman Blaze Bayley has commented on his non-appearance at the upcoming Cliveaid event on June 30 at the Les Caves Saint Sabin in Paris, France.
Says Blaze: "Just to make things clear, we want to let you all know in France that BLAZE BAYLEY band never confirmed this appearance, it was booked and announced by Cliveaid without confirming with the management and we were booked for something else already; we want to apologize to all of our hardcore fans and friends in Paris, we are working in getting there as soon as we can and play a proper gig for all of you."
Cliveaid organizers have announced that former MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno will sing three songs with French MAIDEN tribute band COVERSLAVE at the Paris event. Also scheduled to appear are the Parisian heavy/thrash metallers DREAMCATCHER, and French illustrator Herv Monjeaud, who works for IRON MAIDEN. Monjeaud designed the "Somewhere Back In Time - World Tour 08" poster and works for French IRON MAIDEN fanzine Neighbour Of The Beast. Herv will bring some of his best original artwork and will draw Eddie sketches for those who ask.
Cliveaid is the organization which was set up in 2004 as a fund-raising event for original IRON MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr.
Burr is suffering from multiple sclerosis a disease of unknown cause. The disorder is causing him intermittent numbness and can affect his balance. At present there is no known cure for MS, although he is helping test new drugs in the hope that his body response may contribute to a cure.
Clive joined IRON MAIDEN at the very end of December 1979 and played on the first three albums "Iron Maiden", "Killers" and "Number of the Beast" and toured extensively with the band over this groundbreaking period before leaving in early 1983.
